How do I identify my bell housing J-code?

It is stamped into the casting of your original Toyota A340 automatic bell housing. A J3 plate can be requested after ordering at the same price.

Can I use the front mount shifter in an SC300?

No. The front mount sits too far forward in this chassis. Use the rear mount shifter.

Is a driveshaft included?

No. Driveshafts are ordered separately. Steel and aluminum are both built on 3 inch tube, and carbon is also offered.

What do I need to supply myself?

The bell housing from an automatic 2JZ in J1, J2 or J3, and on the base kit the GM T56 slave cylinder.

What is included in the base kit?

J1/J2 adapter plate, flywheel, transmission crossmember with mount, pilot bearing, bearing rings and hardware.

What are the torque specs for the adapter plate and bell housing?

Adapter plate countersunk bolts torque to 30 ft-lb and the bell housing torques to 40 ft-lb. Both are engraved on the bottom of the plate.

Should I use thread locker on the adapter plate bolts?

No. The countersunk bolts are small and only torque to 30 ft-lb, so aggressive thread locker means stripping the heads the next time the plate comes off for service.

Do I need to cut the spud to fit the adapter plate?

No. The recess on the ASE plate is machined deep enough to clear it. This was addressed by a design change years ago, but the old advice about cutting it still circulates on forums.
